Suicide Live Oak

City Park Houses the largest and most significant collection of mature live oaks in the world. One of which is known, in legend to be the oak where people killed themselves. According to Legend, the suicide oak designates an area where victims of despair killed themselves. And, true to its name, the Suicide Oak is desperate. It recently lost two powerful limbs, one of which rests under the tree and is estimated to be more than 150 years old. The Live Oaks have a history of their own. Many are hundreds of years old, and have a circumference of 30 to 40 feet!
